Dream

Spruce Wood
71 x 55 x 8 cm
2019

___

The annual rings and cracks of the spruce are placed at the centre, while the lines of a human profile are gently let fall from the edge of this wafer-thin panel. Just eight centimetres thick, this work does not seek to carve a voluminous head but to attach a face to the tree’s edge without disturbing its own cross-section of time. As your point of view shifts, this figure — dissolving into the raw texture of the wood and all but vanishing — is the story of that first turn toward the “dream” that can neither be touched nor let go.
