Workshops providing basic information on wood carving are organized by artist Ayhan Tomak at Balat Workshop on designated days of the week. The workshop activities are divided into three main categories:
- Wooden sculpture and relief works
- Traditional hand carving
- Small object designs
In the wood carving workshops, starting from the basic knowledge of carving, advanced practical studies are discussed in detail in selected topics such as relief, sculpture, and traditional hand carving.
At the beginning of the workshops preliminary information (e.g., types of wood used in wood carving, carving knives, and their usage) is introduced and practical applications related to carving are carried out.
Carving knives and similar tools used in the classes, as well as standard maximum A4-sized woods, are available in the workshop for workshop participants during the activities.
Even if you have no previous experience with wood carving, your interest in the subject will be sufficient to attend the workshops.
