   Ayhan Tomak

Born in 1970 in Antakya, one of the most prominent cities in Turkey, Ayhan Tomak completed his primary and secondary education there.

While working on his degree at Istanbul University, the artist also participated in the IFAR Painting Group, which was established in 1991 under the leadership of painter Erol Deneç. Tomak took part in various painting exhibitions, mainly in Istanbul, Turkey as well as abroad. Simultaneously, the artist designed book covers and illustrated for newspapers and magazines.

After 2000, Tomak began his sculpture studies using wood as his primary medium. Applying his knowledge and experience about wood carving in sculptures, the artist joined wood carving exhibitions both in Turkey and abroad, along with hosting symposiums and workshops. In addition to his sculptural studies, Tomak created his own designs in the field of functional art furthermore consulting for various companies.

Tokmak, who has been a member of the Helsinki International Artists Association since 2007, continues his artistic path in Istanbul instructing wood sculpture classes in his workshops in Balat and Binkılıç Village.
